Xiaomi significantly accelerated its electric car production!

Ana sayfa / News

Tech giant Xiaomi is rapidly progressing in electric vehicle (EV) production. Overcoming the “production hell” often experienced by new EV companies, Xiaomi has dramatically reduced delivery lead times for two of its popular SU7 sedans. This indicates that the company’s factories have reached a new production capacity.

For customers in China, the lead time for orders for the mid-range SU7 Pro and top-of-the-line SU7 Max electric sedans is now just 6 to 9 weeks. This represents a significant improvement over the previous estimated delivery time of up to 30 weeks.

This acceleration makes it likely that customers placing orders soon will receive their new electric vehicles before the end of 2025. This timing is crucial as it allows them to take advantage of better purchase tax incentives compared to 2026.

However, this improvement doesn’t apply to all models. Buyers of the entry-level SU7 Standard model still face a longer delivery window of 29-32 weeks. Meanwhile, the SU7 Ultra, a separate high-performance model, has been on hold for 6-9 weeks since September, and some units are said to be ready in stock.

This sudden acceleration is almost certainly due to increased factory output, not a drop in orders. Reports from early 2025 indicated that Xiaomi’s car factory was operating at nearly 200% capacity. The Beijing Phase I factory, which has an annual capacity of 150,000 EVs, is producing significantly more with a double-shift system. This success demonstrates its ability to achieve mass production, a major challenge for any new automaker.

In addition to Beijing Phase II and Phase III, a new factory in Wuhan is also underway, scheduled to begin production in May 2026. Xiaomi aims to produce and sell more than 1 million electric vehicles annually by 2026. If the company reaches its target of 1.2 million, it will become one of the world’s largest EV manufacturers in record time.

Finally, rumors in the automotive sector continue to rage. Rumors are circulating on social media that the SU7 sedan will soon receive a facelift. This update could allegedly bring 12 new configuration upgrades, but also a price increase of RMB 9,900 (approximately €1,190). Xiaomi has yet to comment on this rumor.
